The Lesson 一堂課

A?son?took?his?father?to?a?restaurant?for?an?evening?dinner.

兒子帶他的父親去餐館吃晚餐。

The?father,?being?very?old?and?weak,?while?he?was?eating,?dropped?food?on?his?shirt?and?pants.

父親年事已高，身體也很虛弱，吃飯的時(shí)候，把食物灑在了襯衫和褲子上。

Other?diners?watched?him?with?dislike?while?his?son?was?calm?and?enjoyed?the?time?with?his?dad.

其他用餐者不悅地看著他，而他的兒子卻很平靜，享受著和父親在一起的時(shí)光。

After?they?finished?eating,?the?son?quietly?took?his?father?to?the?washroom,?wiped?off?the?food,?combed?his?hair?and?fitted?his?glasses?firmly.

吃完飯后，兒子悄悄地把父親帶到盥洗室，幫父親把食物揩去，梳好頭，把眼鏡戴好。

When?they?came?back?out,?the?entire?restaurant?was?watching?them?in?silence,?not?able?to?grasp?how?someone?could?embarrass?themselves?publicly?like?that.

當(dāng)他們出來(lái)的時(shí)候，整個(gè)餐廳都在默默地看著他們，無(wú)法理解為什么有人會(huì)這樣公開地讓自己難堪。

The?son?settled?the?bill?and?started?leaving?with?his?father.

兒子付了帳，正要和父親一起離開。

At?that?time,?an?old?man?sitting?among?the?diners?called?out?to?the?son?and?asked?him,?"Don't?you?think?that?you?have?left?something?behind?"

這時(shí)，坐在用餐者中間的一位老人向兒子喊道：“難道你不覺(jué)得你落下什么東西了嗎？”

The?son?replied,?"No?sir,?I?haven't."

兒子回答說(shuō)：“沒(méi)，先生，沒(méi)有。”

The?old?man?retorted,?"Yes,?you?have!?You?have?left?a?lesson?for?every?son?and?a?hope?for?every?father."

老人反駁說(shuō)：“有，你有！你給每個(gè)兒子上了一堂課，給每個(gè)父親留下了希望?！?/p>

The?restaurant?was?silent.

餐館里鴉雀無(wú)聲。
