My understandings of learning a foreign language:

Learn & think profoundly rules such as prononciations of words, grammar of wordings by utilizing the left side of your brain, which processes logics;

Practice & think less then, of what you've learned by utilizing the intuitions of left side of your brain.

Let me emphasize agian. Do Not Think Much Or Long when you're practicing english in any means, whether it is for listening, reading, writing, especially for speaking.

But, at least, you have to stay focused when practicing.

That's the trick, that's how the way your brain works.

No one with excellent skills were primarily tought by someone, that's it.

You might strongly suspect that the word 'were' is incorrect when used with 'singular' subject, but guess what? It's actually 'natively' correct as an idiom way of wording. You gotta modestly learn more. :)
